Happiness courses for living well, rooted in Greek philosophy

What does it mean to live happily?

It may begin with feeling at home within yourself, wherever life finds you.

Drinking your morning coffee. Talking with someone you love. Finishing the work that matters to you. Making dinner, paying bills, answering messages, and wondering how another week passed so quickly.

There are days when you laugh, feel grateful, and cannot imagine needing anything more.

There are also nights when you lie awake worrying about someone you love. Seasons when a relationship changes, your health frightens you, a dream falls apart, or you simply do not know what comes next.

And there are moments when nothing is wrong, but something in you still wants to learn, grow, and experience your life more deeply.

You are not asking for every day to be perfect.
You want to know how to live this one life well.

At the Live Happily Academy, these questions become the starting point for meaningful courses, guided experiences, and a different understanding of happiness.

Who teaches you how to live well?

You may have spent years learning how to make a living, care for the people who depend on you, and meet the responsibilities of everyday life.

You learned how to build a life, pursue meaningful goals, and respond when life asked more of you.

Those lessons matter. But they cannot answer every question your life will ask of you.

What do you do when two things you value pull you in different directions?
When a life that once felt right no longer fits?
When the familiar answers stop working and you must decide what is right for you?

Those moments invite you to consider what matters to you and how you want to live. You are often expected to discover these answers while life is already unfolding.

If you find yourself asking how to live in a way that feels true and meaningful to you, you may be asking one of the most important questions your life deserves.

When life begins choosing for you

Without space to consider what matters to you, habit, fear, obligation, and other people’s expectations can quietly begin shaping your choices.

You may begin measuring your value by how much you contribute, accomplish, or do for others.

But your worth does not begin with what you accomplish or how much you do for others.

A life can look admirable from the outside and still leave its deepest values unlived.

That is the quiet cost of having too little space to ask whether your life still reflects what matters to you.

Life does not wait for your attention

The choices you postpone do not remain suspended. They become days, and the days become your life.

There may never be a perfect time to ask what you believe, what you value, or how you want to live. Without moments of reflection, it becomes easier for what matters most to be pushed aside as the years pass.

You cannot choose everything life will bring. But you can choose to give the life you are living your attention now.

You can learn to live well

Living well does not require a life without sorrow, uncertainty, or change.

It begins with knowing yourself, choosing what matters, and learning how to meet what life brings with greater wisdom and steadiness.

You can love others without abandoning yourself. You can enjoy what is good while it is here. Even in loss, moments of love, connection, and meaning can still find their way into your life.

Happiness, then, becomes more than a passing feeling. It becomes a way of living your whole life, through the sunshine and the storms.

Here, this understanding becomes something you can explore, practice, and bring into everyday life.

The question that changed my life

Life coach and mindfulness instructor Stella Frances smiling warmly with her hands together.

Hi, I’m Stella Frances. For years, I believed happiness would arrive with the next achievement.

A better job. Another Microsoft certification. More money. A larger house. A new car. More friends.

I achieved many of those things. Yet I remember coming home to the life I had worked so hard to create and feeling profoundly alone. I had succeeded in ways I once believed would make me happy, but something essential was still missing.

That experience led me to a question that changed the direction of my life:

What does it mean to live happily?

I returned to the Greek philosophy I had grown up with, this time with different eyes. Aristotle’s understanding of happiness helped me see that a good life is about more than achievement or a passing feeling. It includes the whole of who you are and the life you are living.

Positive psychology, mindfulness, and my work as a coach and teacher gave me practical ways to bring those ideas into everyday life.

And life itself continued to teach me. Through both beautiful and difficult seasons, I discovered that joy and sorrow can exist together. You can face uncertainty and still experience love. You can move through change without losing your connection to what matters.

I share this because I have asked these questions too, and the answers changed the way I live.

What it means to live happily

Aristotle used the word eudaimonia, often translated as happiness, to describe something richer than feeling good. It means living well and flourishing over the course of a whole life.

That understanding changed happiness for me. It no longer meant waiting for life to become easier or trying to remain positive through everything that hurt.

Living happily begins with knowing yourself, as Socrates taught, because understanding yourself more deeply helps you recognize what matters and make choices that feel true to you.

It means remembering that your worth is inherent. Your value does not depend on how useful, productive, successful, or pleasing you are to others.

It means developing the character and wisdom to hold both what delights you and what tests you. Rudyard Kipling imagined that steadiness as meeting “Triumph and Disaster” without being ruled by either.

Living well is not something you have to do alone. A good human life includes love, friendship, contribution, pleasure, courage, sorrow, and the people with whom you share it. You can belong to others without ceasing to belong to yourself.

To live happily is not to feel happy every moment. It is to participate consciously in the whole of your life and continue asking:  How do I live well in the life I have, through the sunshine and the storms?

Where wisdom becomes a way of life

I created the Live Happily Academy because wisdom should do more than give you beautiful ideas. It should help you live your actual life.

Here, philosophy becomes personal reflection, honest conversation, mindfulness, practical learning, and choices you can carry into an ordinary Tuesday morning or a moment when life asks something new of you.

You come to understand yourself more deeply, consider what living well means to you, and practice bringing that understanding into the way you live.

The philosophy offers the question. The Academy helps you live your answer.
